Dingen Die Niet Verkopen, Antwerp BE
The ancient spice trade routes were not just pathways for goods but also conduits for ideas, religions, and cultures. Spices like pepper, cinnamon, and cloves were so highly valued that they were often worth more than gold.

My personal experiences have served as a profound source of inspiration, compelling me to reflect on and depict in my previously creative endeavors numerous questions I harbor regarding religion and my role. Within this exploration, I delve into the unique prespecifies, and emotional landscapes experienced by women in Asian societies and others living within the confines of a patriarchal framework. This multifaceted examination encompasses cultural memory, emotions, materialism, and the prevailing conservatism deeply embedded in Asian societies.

This artwork narrates the stories of five people who have visited my home. I utilize Taiwanese spices to craft five distinct sauces, all paired with Belgian fries, enabling the audience to taste the relationships between them and me. I also write five poems as another version of the sauces. I metaphorically liken myself to sauces, while the fries represent those who come to my metaphorical ‘home.’ They dip into me, and, by the act of consuming, reading, digesting, and metabolizing ‘food’, they blend the emotions I once had into their body.

Zoo in Antwerp, BE
I recreated a dish using recipes from the zoo and added spices from the animals’ native countries. By doing so, I invited people to exchange recipes and food with items they have based on what they have, as animals in zoos have historically been traded and exchanged between different Zoo. Through this living per-formance, I hope the audience can feel the stories behind these exchanges and connections.
