In Bulgaria, fountains symbolize men’s achievements and wealth a built gesture, a declaration of presence and strength. I responded with kitchen cutlery objects tied to women’s daily labor, quiet gestures of care that keep life going.
At Keizersbastion, water circulates between the fountain and the utensils, flowing through walls, metal, and traces of time. The space once made for defense learns to nurture again. This work speaks about strength and tenderness, about memory and renewal and about how water, in different cultures, connects gender and emotion.
