This artwork narrates the stories of five people who have visited my home. I utilize Taiwanese spices to craft five distinct sauces, all paired with Belgian fries, enabling the audience to taste the relationships between them and me. I also write five poems as another version of the sauces. I metaphorically liken myself to sauces, while the fries represent those who come to my metaphorical ‘home.’ They dip into me, and, by the act of consuming, reading, digesting, and metabolizing ‘food’, they blend the emotions I once had into their body.

In this work, I describe myself as another symbol to explain my relationship with the local community. I believe that while considering my identity and self-identity, I am also reflecting on my role as an immigrant in this society.
I incorporate Belgium’s culture of fries and merge it with my cultural background.

I also consulted ‘The Food History of Taiwan’, which discussed the historical back-ground of many seasoning dishes in Taiwan, stemming from the colonial periods of Japan, the Netherlands, and China. Taiwanese seasoning blends various cultural back-grounds, which I find resonance within my contact with other people in Belgium
